Our Identity:
The Gospel gives us a new identity. Before there was sin, Adam and Eve had an unblemished identity because they knew who God was, and consequently, who they were. They were created in God's image. Out of their identity as God's image bearers, they lived lives of meaning, purpose and beauty.
Sin has shattered God's image in us destroying our sense of identity. As a result, we are confused about who God is and who we are; a confusion that leads to broken and empty lives. Because of this new identity we can once again live meaningful lives that are full of beauty and purpose.
Through the Gospel, God is making us family, missionaries, servants, and learners.
Family:
We are a community of people who all have a real relationship with a real, living God. A community of friends who live and care for one other and believe strongly in "Friendship before Function". Relationships that help shape and move us forward are key to our lives, with a daily walk with God being the most important relationship.
Missionaries:
We are sent to be Jesus to the world. This takes place from Neighbours to Nations.
Servants:
We have been given gifts, abilities, resources and passions for the purpose of revealing a living Christ through loving and serving others.
Learners:
We are responsible for our own maturity and development.
Community:
The gospel gives us a new community. The Bible tells us that it is not good for man to be alone. We were created for community. Adam and Eve lived in community with one another and were naked and unashamed. After the fall Adam and Eve hid from one another as well as from God.
Members of this new community can confidently say, "I belong, I am responsible for my actions, and I will live in covenant with others on mission."
Activity:
The gospel gives us a new activity. God created us with a purpose. We were meant to live in rhythm with God so that our lives would reflect God to the world. We display God's image through our good works, which are a response of worship to the Gospel.
Through the transforming power of Christ those gifts, abilities, and passions are used to display God's image to the world. As we walk in rhythm with Christ we listen, bless, party, feast, play, and tell.
Listen:
We listen to God's Word and other people to know their stories.
Bless:
We will bless other people with what God has blessed us with.
Party:
We celebrate the Gospel. The 11th Commandment is "You shall have fun in the Kingdom of God ".
Feast:
We eat together, acknowledging our mutual need and God's provision.
Play:
We enjoy God's world and all that's in it. Remember the 11th?
Tell:
We share our story with others.
OUR NAME:
The Fingerprint: Represents our identity as re-found in Christ.
LIFEWORX:
A combination of the two words, "LIFE" and "WORX"; Life only truly works when it is lived with and in Christ. The individual letters tell the following story: -
L - we were designed to enjoy a LOVE relationship with the living God.
I - sin has caused us to be ISOLATED from His LOVE.
F - this problem of ISOLATION is solved by His FORGIVENESS of our sins.
E - this brings us back to enjoying a LOVE relationship with God that is
Worx - Life really does work when lived in Christ.
This relationship also gives us our purpose and life's work.
Worx is spelt with an X at the end to represent the cross where both Christ and us have had to die in order to really live.
Bc3 is a play on our basic reason for existing as a church: -
Because of Christ, a Biblical Community, Becoming like Christ.
We are not an independent church as we have a working relationship a team of leaders known as New Covenant Ministries International. Together with this team, we are involved in taking the Good News of Christ to many parts of Perth , Australia and the Nations.
